Now we have time off again I am starting to finally do all the things in Wellington worth doing/seeing.

First on the list was Te Papa Museum and the history of New Zealand

Attempt at Kitesurfing #1

We tried. We left on friday night, big car, big tent, wetsuits. Set up massive tent at night among the weird bird noises from the sanctuary next to the campsite. Really vicious noises!
Next morning we wake up to a glorious day. With no wind. No bloody wind. Nothing. Not even a breeze. Nothing moved. In New Zealand.
Damn.

But here are the photos.
Off to Foxton Beach!

And this is what we woke up to... what a horrible day... a complete disappointment.
Sunny, warm, clear, breeze free day.

Off to the estuary to check the beach!

We thought we would give it a couple of hours to see if the wind picked up. So off to the beach.
A beach with a speed limit!

No kitesurfing so we went exploring. And we found America!!!

And we found a river to go for a swim
Freezing cold water!!! Bones hurting, heart thumping, lungs expanding really quickly. Jeebus!

Even the dog was reluctant to go in and get the stick

Still no wind...
Next day still no wind so we jumped in the car and we were off.

 Could imagine hobbits living there!

then we went to a bird sanctuary

 We saw some eels
and the only white kiwi bird!!!!!
she was so cute!!!!!

Then we went to Martinborough, the trip I missed when i got sick.
Vineyards.

After wine tastings we did olive oil tastings.
I prefer the second one...

driving slowly through the mountains back to wellington.
so, no kitesurfing but all in all a nice weekend we deserved after prometheus hell....
